Who has my stuff? How to track things you lend

Your power bank is “with someone”. Your favourite book went to a friend last year. Things you lend rarely come back on their own, mostly because everyone forgets, not because anyone means to keep them.

Why things don't come back

When you lend something, nobody writes it down. Weeks later neither of you remembers who has it. A quick note with the item, the person and the date is enough to change that.

A simple habit

  1. Note the item, the person and today's date as you hand it over.
  2. Agree a rough return date (“after your exam”, “next weekend”) and note that too.
  3. Glance at your “lent” list now and then: anything there for more than a month deserves a friendly message.
  4. Track what you borrow too, so you return things before anyone has to ask.

Doing it with KEEPR

In KEEPR, add an item as lent or borrowed. Home shows what's been out the longest, and KEEPR nudges you when something has been away for a while. Need something urgently? Post on the Borrow board or send an urgent request to your group, and borrow from friends instead of buying.
